ABS 2.85mm Extrafill SIGNAL YELLOW Filament 750g – Fillamentum
The ABS 2.85mm Extrafill SIGNAL YELLOW Filament 750g of the brand Fillamentum, is a PREMIUM ABS of very high quality.
Fillamentum manufactures its filaments with very rigorous production and quality processes.
Fillamentum guarantees a high precision in the dimensions of its filaments, within a tolerance of +/- 0.05 mm.,
which is strictly controlled by laser techniques throughout the production.
The ABS 2.85mm Extrafill SIGNAL YELLOW , filament manufactured specifically for 3D FFF printing technology (also known as FDM).
Made in Europe
General characteristics of ABS
ABS can be used with relative ease in 3D printers.
The result of working with ABS, is a high quality in the printed pieces, even in the difficult details and a very good lamination of the printed object.
The filament ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a thermoplastic derived from petroleum, being one of the most common plastics nowadays.
Unlike PLA it is not biodegradable, but it is very tenacious, hard and rigid, it offers a high mechanical resistance, chemical resistance and abrasion, but suffers with exposure to UV rays.
It is commonly used in the use in 3D printers, since the pieces made with ABS filament can be “worked” once printed.
The ABS filament is easy to machine, it can be polished, sanded, drilled, painted, pasted, etc., which allows, among other applications, that parts can easily be assembled to make one of the largest.
The ABS filament requires less force to be extruded than the PLA filament, since it has a lower coefficient of friction. This extrusion feature makes it ideal for 3D printing to make small parts, compared to the PLA.
The disadvantage of the ABS filament is that it must be extruded at a higher temperature: Its glass transition temperature is ~ 105 ° C.
The ABS filament is amorphous and therefore does not have a true melting point, but 230~240 ° C is usually the standard for printing.
ABS filament is less brittle than PLA, and is more resistant to higher temperatures. For example, it is used to print parts such as the extruder and other parts of the 3D printer that are near heat sources.

Advice on ABS
Smoke
The ABS filament creates slight fumes when extruded.
These fumes, while generally tolerable, can be dangerous for people with chemical sensitivities or breathing difficulties.
Make sure that the printer is in a well-ventilated area and make sure that you do not breathe in the fumes as much as possible.
Storage
The ABS filament is hygroscopic, therefore absorbs water from the atmosphere.
It should be stored in a container with a lid and some form of desiccant to keep the indoor air dry.
The ABS filament affected by moisture, will tend to the bubble at the time of extrusion and the result of the printed piece will be a rough and porous surface.
Printing advice
Print ABS with a temperature of 230ºC – 240ºC in the extruder and between 80ºC – 90ºC to the heating base.
It is usually difficult for it to stick to the heating base if it does not exceed 80ºC.
If we use lacquer on the heating base, lightly spray the glass of it.
ABS soluble in acetone.
The parts printed in ABS can be easily glued together, glued with pure acetone or an acetone / ABS suspension.
The result of the union will be as strong as the parts themselves. This makes it possible to create a large piece from the union of several small pieces.
Post processed
It is possible to soften the surfaces using acetone vapor, always taking the appropriate safety measures, since the acetone vapor is harmful.
